Bolo Tie: Vintage Freeform Bennett Clasp
Bolo Tie: Vintage Freeform Bennett Clasp
A vintage and sizable freeform bolo that has a unique trio of turquoise design. The framing is what caught my eye—with its horseshoe aesthetic acting as a shadowbox for the wire-framed cabochons.
The piece is unmarked, but the clasp is known as the Bennett clasp as it was the original locking slide clasp design that was created before the 1960s. After the 1960s the C 31 was dropped and the “BENNETT PAT. PEND.” became the norm. Folks began copying the clasp design and has sense labeled this style as the Bennett clasp.
Weighted, quality craft, and a beautiful choice of stones. This piece is different and artistic. I appreciate the freedom of the style, but also the traditional saucer style aiguillettes that thread it all together.
