Necklace: J Comes Spiked Lapis Choker
Necklace: J Comes Spiked Lapis Choker
A vintage, yet more contemporary piece from Taxco that reflects the influence of mid-century atomic motifs often seen with William Spratling and Salvador Terán.
This necklace has a stiff wire that holds its shape while threading dense silver beads and 14 lapis inlay spikes. The spikes are weighted, not hollow, and hang with a flexible give that allows the necklace to conform to your neck. The box clasp has an added safety hinge for extra security. The piece can be worn with the inlay showing or flipped to be all silver.
The work that I know of J Comes is very finished, heavy metal inlay. The silver is .970, higher grade than the .925 sterling, and has a polished look to it.
The lapis that he chose is beautiful. It has white veins versus gold and the blue has depth where you can see the layers of the stone structure.
A very unique collar design that I have never seen before.

As per standard, very early vintage is not polished unless requested. Silver will naturally polish the more that it is worn.
