Necklace: Vintage Gujarat Silver Lac
Necklace: Vintage Gujarat Silver Lac
An amazing example of an antique Gujarati necklace that is in fantastic condition to wear. This style comes from the northwestern province of India and the beading involves coating hard lac beads with sheets of sterling silver forming substantial yet lightweight forms. The beads are on black cotton string and date back to 1900-1935.
There is some wear on the threading, but I would feel very comfortable wearing this regularly. It is in superb condition.
Measurements: 20” L | 14 beads: 2.5 cms wide & 1.5cms high | Knot separation.
As per standard, very early vintage is not polished unless requested. Silver will naturally polish the more that it is worn.
